What is PROMPT Therapy?
PROMPT is a comprehensive approach to treating speech sound disorders that incorporates the physical sensory elements of motor production with the social-emotional and cognitive-linguistic components of communication. PROMPT stands for Prompts for Restructuring Oral Motor Phonetic Targets. PROMPT therapy involves tactile-kinesthetic cues, meaning the therapist uses touch, pressure, and movement cues on the face and mouth to guide correct speech movements. It may be used with children from 6 months of age and older. Our clinicians are PROMPT trained and use this treatment method in addition to other evidence based treatments in order to provide the highest quality speech language therapy services.
